Our Honeymoon

It’s been a year and almost 7 months since we got married and I never got around posting our honeymoon pictures. Let me start by saying that I am one lazy person when it comes to vacationing. I love doing absolutely nothing and I much rather sit by the beach or pool, tan, eat, sleep & enjoy my time off. I’m fortunate enough to have married someone who is just as lazy as I am when it comes to going on vacation. When we started planning our honeymoon we decided to go to Cancun, MX. We have a serious obsession with visiting different beaches around the world (preferably clear, warm, beautiful ones). We stayed at the Gran Melia. Our stay was for a week and it was a relaxing experience. The food was delicious, the beach was so clear & warm, the pool area was incredible and I’m happy to say that all we did was eat, relax, sleep, eat some more, sleep, eat..did I mention eat?! The only extra activity we did was snorkeling and at the end of the day we were exhausted lol! But we can’t wait to continue our mini adventures as a couple and now as a family of 2.5 as we like to refer to ourselves.

Hospital Bag List

I know I'm still far away from my actual due date but I found this list and I thought it was very practical and to the point. The only thing I would change is the 'birth plan' because I currently don't have one and I'm not planning on making one. I decided to go with an open mind and know that anything can happen. I will do what my body tells me as well as what the doctor recommends is best for Lucas and myself.  I do have three 'must do' that I will talk to my doctor about:

1) I want Daniel to cut the umbilical cord
2) I want to hold the baby as soon as he is born
3) No formula (if possible) I want to breastfeed him

Hospital Visit/Week 24

Last Thursday was a very scary and concerning afternoon for us. I started feeling minor pains in the morning and as the day went on the pains started to progress. I knew there was something wrong so I called Daniel and told him my concerns and then proceeded to call the doctor. As I told them my symptoms (sharp abdominal pains, my stomach felt extremely tight etc.) the nurse recommend for me to go to the hospital as soon as possible because it sounded like I was having contractions and they needed to verify that I was not going into pre-term labor. I broke down into tears and called Daniel & my mom, I explained the situation to them and they both met me at the hospital. Upon arrival I was sent over to the ‘Triage Room’ and was monitored for about 5 hours. I was having contractions and after taking my pressure, doing a cervical & urine exam they decided to give me a shot to minimize the pain. My biggest concern, of course, was to know if Lucas was doing ok, which they assured me he was. His heart rate was normal and he was moving a lot (active baby means healthy baby).  I was dispatched around 7:30 p.m. and they asked me to monitor my contractions as well as his movements (at least 10 kicks every hour and if the contractions were 5 mins apart I needed to return to the hospital) Over the weekend I had minor pains but nothing like the ones I experienced on Thursday.  The nurse was not sure as to what was causing the contractions (she mentioned it had something to do with my uterus) but I have an appointment this Wednesday so I will follow up with the doctor as to what steps I need to take in order to minimize or avoid any contractions.  To say the least it was a very frightening situation but I feel blessed to have such a wonderful family that was extremely supportive during this time.  Lucas is doing well, still moving a lot and I was able to rest for 4 days which was amazing.

I took some pictures of my belly this week and for the first time I’m showing my bare tummy. I’ve been taking pictures for my reference but I never post them so I decided it was time for me to actually show my progress.

Weeks 21-23

This weekend we had the amazing privilege to attend the Special Day Assembly  in Mira Loma, CA with our not so little bump! It was a lovely event and even though by the end of the day I was exhausted and my feet were swollen (of course I was going to wear heels) it was a great and eventful Saturday. On Sunday we decided to sleep in, Daniel made me some delicious breakfast and we went to see Man of Steel. I read the importance of having little dates before the baby comes so we wanted to spend some one on one time together and it was great.

My last visit at the doctor she told me I'm probably two weeks ahead, meaning that I've completely missed two weeks of my pregnancy and writing about. It's exciting to know we are that much closer to meeting Lucas but it's also a bit nerve raking because to be honest we haven't bought anything, YIKES! By next week I'll know with certainty how far along I am but for now here's my 21-24 week update:

Symptoms: None, Lucas has been a very well behaved baby!
Queasy/Sick: Cooking chicken!
Best Moments: Feeling how active Lucas is
Belly Button: Innie/Outie process
Weight Gain/Loss: I've gained about 10 pounds
Movements: Yes, lots of them!
Cravings: Fruits
Ring: It fits but it depends on the weather. At times it fits like a glove other times my fingers are too swollen and the ring won't fit.
Books: What to Expect when you are expecting & My Book of Biblical Stories (for Lucas)
Stretch Marks: None as of right now. I'm using this & this; they work like wonders.
Miss Anything: Being able to sleep on my stomach and to drink a tall caramel frap!
Sleep: Sleeping has been challenging and I wake up at least two to three times to accommodate myself.
How far along: Either 21 or 23 weeks
Maternity Clothes: I've only bought two dresses.
Are you showing yet: Absolutely!

A video that will bring tears to your eyes

I'm fully aware that my emotions are up & down most of the time and that I cry over anything. But I must say this video as done it for me. Not only did it make me cry but seeing the facial expression on the dad's as well as their genuine reaction to "feeling" the baby truly melted my heart. I honestly wished they had this here so I can have Daniel try it.

Baby Banana Week 20!

Week 20 has arrived! It has been a very busy week from having the anatomy ultrasound, finding out Baby Banana's gender and doing the gender reveal to our family & friends! It's exciting to know I'm almost half way into my pregnancy. I was actually told by the doctor that I might be 2 weeks ahead which means my due date will change.

Here are some fun facts:

  • Baby weights about 10.2 ounces and measures about 6.5 inches.
  • Baby Lucas has working taste buds
  • Now, he's gulping down several ounces of amniotic fluid each day -- that's significantly more than before
*Information was obtain here

Special Cravings: Fruits--specially watermelon & cherries

Symptoms: Pregnancy brain fog & I feel hungry most of the time :)

Belly Button: Still innie/outie process

Books: What to Expect when you are expecting & Mi Libro De Historias Biblicas-we read this one to Lucas

Baby Movements: YES! A LOT! He's a very active baby

Queasy: Raw chicken..still! I can't cook it it really grosses me out.

Weight Gain: About 8-10 pounds

I used some of the pics from the gender reveal because I was 20 weeks.

Gender Reveal!

Planning the 'gender reveal gathering' was fun. Our immediate family knew we are having a boy but we also wanted to share the exciting news with our close friends. The event was nice, small & simple & it was very nice to share this special moment with our family & friends.

We want to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for attending the reveal and a special thank you to my mom & sister for helping me ALL DAY LONG & making the place look adorable, you two ladies are amazing, love you!
