Weeks 32 & 33

I can't believe my due date is approaching. I've been having minor contractions and sleeping has become a bit harder but other than that Lucas has been good. I started packing the hospital bag and getting the nursery ready. I'm sure in no time I'll be holding my little baby and our lives will change forever, of course in a magnificent way.

Symptoms: Braxton Hicks Contractions, Lucas loves to push on my bladder so I use the restroom a lot, exhaustion, out of breath, and lack of sleep

Queasy/Sick: Right now nothing in particular, I get really hungry all the time :)

Best Moments: Knowing that we are so close to the due date and soon we will be holding Lucas & of course he's constant kicks & I finally got to feel his hiccups

Belly Button: Innie/Outie

Weight Gain: About 25 lbs

Movements: Lucas loves to move a lot--especially at night time

Cravings: Coconut water, rice & beans

Ring: I can still wear it unless my hands are swollen--then I only wear my wedding band

Stretch Marks: Minor ones by my belly button

Miss Anything: Sleeping on my stomach--but soon I'll miss that unique bond between Lucas and I whenever he kicks, has hiccups and moves around.

Sleep: I sleep Ok. I tend to wake up 3-4 times

Are you showing: Yes I am, many think I'm having twins

Boy/Girl: Boy

Dress: Target (on special for $19)
Shoes: Fashion store

Week 31 & Sneak Peek of the Nursery

Week 31 has been a busy one--from the three hour glucose tolerance exam, doctor appointments, meeting up with pediatricians and painting the nursery--we've been busy bees. The glucose exam was excruciating, I arrived at 8:30 a.m. and that's when the poking started. I didn't leave till 11:40 and I have to wait 3-5 days for the results.  I'm hoping everything comes out Ok otherwise I would have to meet with a dietitian and see what they recommend.  I've never had diabetes but I'm aware that some women do get gestational diabetes during their pregnancy and my biggest concern is passing it to Lucas. I'm hoping & praying for the best.

Here is my 31 week update:

Symptoms: Braxton Hicks & using the restroom A LOT!

Queasy/Sick: Nothing in particular

Best Moments: Feeling Lucas move and painting the nursery (even though I didn't paint at all but seeing the final product made me very happy)

Belly Button: Innie/Outtie

Weight Gain/Loss: I currently weight 140 lbs so I've gained 26 lbs

Movements: A lot of them

Cravings: Coconut water

Ring: I still wear it but it all depends whether or not my fingers get swollen

Stretch Marks: I actually got some minor ones close to my belly button. I'm using this & this. My sister was sweet enough to tell me "that every stretch mark I see is a testament to how much I love Lucas" <3 Isn't she the sweetest.

Miss Anything: At this moment I don't miss anything--because once he is born I will miss feeling the adorable kicks and movements & taking him with me to work and everywhere I go.

Sleep: It's becoming hard to get out of bed every time I need to use the restroom (Daniel says I look like a turtle turned upside down LOL)

How far along: 31 weeks (I'm currently 32 but I'm doing this update a week behind)

Maternity Clothes: None

Are you showing yet: Oh yes I am!

Boy or girl: Still a boy :)

Please disregard my crazy curly hair!
Here's a sneak peek to the nursery. I'm still in the process of decorating it but at least the painting part is done. I would like to thank JC and Laura Herrera for their amazing help.  JC works with Advance Custom Paint and he meant business when he painted the nursery. His level of professionalism was amazing and I would recommend him in a heart beat.  Daniel and I are beyond grateful for what they did and we are beyond happy with the outcome.

Week 25

This week has been a very warm one here in SoCal and being pregnant during summer time can be a bit harsh. It's starting to cool off a bit so that's a major plus. Yesterday I got to see my dad and I'm so happy he got to feel Lucas kick. My mom, sister and a few friends have felt his kicks but not my dad and it was priceless to see his facial expression; it made me very happy. Other than that it's been a very good week, no more contractions (other than a few ones here & there but nothing serious).

Symptoms: Minor contractions
Queasy/Sick: No
Best Moments: Seeing my dad's facial expression when he felt Lucas kick
Belly Button: Innie/Outie
Weight Gain/Loss: About 15 lbs
Movements: YES! A lot of them
Cravings: Fruits
Ring: I'm only wearing my wedding band
Books: What to expect & The Art of Breastfeeding
Stretch Marks: None
Miss Anything: SLEEPING ON MY STOMACH!
Sleep: It's been ok. I wake up my terrible back pains and I'm constantly using the restroom at night time
How far along: 25 weeks
Maternity Clothes: None, just maxi dresses that I can use later on
Are you showing: Yes I am!

Our Honeymoon

It’s been a year and almost 7 months since we got married and I never got around posting our honeymoon pictures. Let me start by saying that I am one lazy person when it comes to vacationing. I love doing absolutely nothing and I much rather sit by the beach or pool, tan, eat, sleep & enjoy my time off. I’m fortunate enough to have married someone who is just as lazy as I am when it comes to going on vacation. When we started planning our honeymoon we decided to go to Cancun, MX. We have a serious obsession with visiting different beaches around the world (preferably clear, warm, beautiful ones). We stayed at the Gran Melia. Our stay was for a week and it was a relaxing experience. The food was delicious, the beach was so clear & warm, the pool area was incredible and I’m happy to say that all we did was eat, relax, sleep, eat some more, sleep, eat..did I mention eat?! The only extra activity we did was snorkeling and at the end of the day we were exhausted lol! But we can’t wait to continue our mini adventures as a couple and now as a family of 2.5 as we like to refer to ourselves.

*I didn't take my camera so all pictures were taken with my iPhone*

Hospital Bag List

I know I'm still far away from my actual due date but I found this list and I thought it was very practical and to the point. The only thing I would change is the 'birth plan' because I currently don't have one and I'm not planning on making one. I decided to go with an open mind and know that anything can happen. I will do what my body tells me as well as what the doctor recommends is best for Lucas and myself.  I do have three 'must do' that I will talk to my doctor about:

1) I want Daniel to cut the umbilical cord
2) I want to hold the baby as soon as he is born
3) No formula (if possible) I want to breastfeed him

Hospital Visit/Week 24

Last Thursday was a very scary and concerning afternoon for us. I started feeling minor pains in the morning and as the day went on the pains started to progress. I knew there was something wrong so I called Daniel and told him my concerns and then proceeded to call the doctor. As I told them my symptoms (sharp abdominal pains, my stomach felt extremely tight etc.) the nurse recommend for me to go to the hospital as soon as possible because it sounded like I was having contractions and they needed to verify that I was not going into pre-term labor. I broke down into tears and called Daniel & my mom, I explained the situation to them and they both met me at the hospital. Upon arrival I was sent over to the ‘Triage Room’ and was monitored for about 5 hours. I was having contractions and after taking my pressure, doing a cervical & urine exam they decided to give me a shot to minimize the pain. My biggest concern, of course, was to know if Lucas was doing ok, which they assured me he was. His heart rate was normal and he was moving a lot (active baby means healthy baby).  I was dispatched around 7:30 p.m. and they asked me to monitor my contractions as well as his movements (at least 10 kicks every hour and if the contractions were 5 mins apart I needed to return to the hospital) Over the weekend I had minor pains but nothing like the ones I experienced on Thursday.  The nurse was not sure as to what was causing the contractions (she mentioned it had something to do with my uterus) but I have an appointment this Wednesday so I will follow up with the doctor as to what steps I need to take in order to minimize or avoid any contractions.  To say the least it was a very frightening situation but I feel blessed to have such a wonderful family that was extremely supportive during this time.  Lucas is doing well, still moving a lot and I was able to rest for 4 days which was amazing.

I took some pictures of my belly this week and for the first time I’m showing my bare tummy. I’ve been taking pictures for my reference but I never post them so I decided it was time for me to actually show my progress.
